The Giorgis Melikis Ethnographic & Masks Research Centre (Melikis Museum) is located in Meliki, Imathia (60 km from Thessaloniki, 20 from Veria, 8 from Vergina). With historic and aesthetic sensitivity we explore, record, collect, publish and exhibit, both here at the Centre and in major museums, institutions, cultural centres and universities, legacies and creations of our material and immaterial civilisation. Living tradition -applied ethnography- and · the two-way interaction between that tradition and individuals or groups is an important aspect of our work. Anagnostaki, Zyranas Zateli, Didos Sotiriou, Panagiotis Kanellopoulos, Sofias Mavroidi-Papadaki, M. Rasoulis, Elytis, Koumantou, Doras Stratou, Th. Fotiadis, T. Varvitsiotis, Nezeriti, Marcoglou, Panselinou, G.P. Savvidi, D. This Collection is unique and counts over 2,500 tamas of popular worship from Roman times to the present day. It is the most famous natural area of Anastenaria, since it functions as a Konaki SECOND FLOOR Exhibition: 120 Masks. Warehouses of our collections.

MASKS "Mask" or "Face" are archetypal form and expression in Greek popular events. The core of the Mask Research Center is the collection of 120 so far functional "face" masks from all over Greece. Based and starting from the 120 masks that we have as a personal collection, scientific knowledge, documentation and popular know-how (photos, videos, narratives, descriptions, testimonies, publications, etc.) we set up the Mask Research Center (KEM). Balkan Masks In the full-national collection of Greek masks and considering a common place of performative magico-religious actions in the area of the Balkans and the Black Sea, in recent years we have put together a collection with corresponding to the Greek masks from events and ceremonies of the inhabitants of the Balkans. The common near-temporal performance of the folk events of the Twelve Days in the Christian world of the Balkans lends a pandemic celebratory atmosphere which may seemingly differ in its particularities, but the core remains the same. Research, record, interact and present.

Shop In our small shop, the publications of the Center are available as well as objects of folk tradition.
